The aim of this qualification is to develop the learner’s knowledge, understanding and practical skills when using superficial skin peel products and techniques to rejuvenate the condition of the skin. Learners will acquire skills involved in providing a thorough consultation, skin health checks to establish the client’s suitability for treatment and to formulate a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client needs. Learners will prepare and apply a range of skin peels as well as providing the relevant pre and post care.
Duration: As part of this qualification, there will be a combination of ongoing theory-base home study and practical teaching onsite. This course is one day teaching per week at the Academy for 12 weeks with external ITEC examination taking place at the end of the course.
The assessments are a combination of theory and practical assessments. To be awarded the VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Certificate in Skin Peeling learners must achieve:
• all mandatory units
• all assignments/projects
• all clinical case studies.
• a pass or (higher) grade in the external theory examination*
• a pass or (higher) grade in the external practical examination*
*Please note all clinical case studies and assignments must be completed and marked as passes before the learner can be entered for examination.
STRUCTURE: 4 MANDATORY UNITS
• Principles and practice of non-medical aesthetic therapies
• Advanced consultation for non-medical aesthetic therapies
• Advanced skin care for non-medical aesthetic therapies
• Provide skin peeling treatments.
Learners must produce a treatment portfolio which is required to be completed under the supervision of a lecturer who must monitor the quality of the treatments performed throughout the learner’s training, to ensure that they meet the given criteria. All clinical case studies must be completed and marked prior to the learner completing the practical and theoretical examinations.
Learners must complete a minimum of 6 clinical case studies. Each case study needs to include a full medical history of the client, advanced skin health assessment, before and after pictures and a full description of the conditions/characteristics to be treated, along with a detailed description of products used, application technique, equipment used and the duration of treatment. Each case study must also include an evaluation of the treatment and its outcomes, pre and post skincare and lifestyle advice provided.
Passion for skincare and commitment to excellence. Prior qualifications in beauty therapy or related fields advantageous but not mandatory. Open to individuals with diverse backgrounds and aspirations in the beauty and medical aesthetics industries.
