This comprehensive course combines scientific knowledge with practical training in microneedling and superficial chemical peels, enabling you to deliver results-driven skin rejuvenation treatments with confidence and professionalism.
Throughout your training, you’ll learn to analyse the skin at a deeper level, conduct safe and ethical consultations and perform advanced treatments that meet modern aesthetic industry standards.

This qualification covers both the theory and practice of advanced skin rejuvenation, with five mandatory units designed to develop your technical skill, scientific understanding, and professional confidence:

Principles, Practices and Ethical Considerations for Advanced Aesthetic Therapies
Understand industry regulations, ethics, and health & safety standards that ensure client trust and professional integrity.
Consultative Techniques in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies
Master client assessment, treatment planning, and pre- and post-treatment care.
Dermatological Science for Advanced Aesthetic Therapies
Study the anatomy and physiology of the skin, skin ageing, and common dermatological conditions.
Provide Skin Needling Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation
Learn advanced microneedling techniques to treat scarring, fine lines, and uneven skin texture.
Provide Superficial Chemical Peels for Skin Rejuvenation
Gain expertise in applying and managing superficial peels safely and effectively for various skin concerns.

Your progress will be assessed through a mix of external theory examinations, practical observations, and Short Answer Response (SAR) assignments.

All assessments are graded as Pass/Fail and verified by VTCT’s external quality assurance team to maintain national standards.

Upon successful completion, you’ll be awarded the VTCT (Skills) Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation — a fully Ofqual-regulated qualification recognised by aesthetic employers and insurers across the UK.

During your course, you’ll build a comprehensive treatment portfolio to demonstrate your competence and professionalism.
You’ll need to complete:

A minimum of four observed practical treatments per modality (microneedling and chemical peels)
Client consultation and treatment documentation for each case
Reflective notes and supporting evidence verified by your assessor

This portfolio becomes your professional evidence of skill and is a vital requirement for certification.

This qualification runs over 15 weeks.

You’ll attend one teaching day per week (10am – 5pm) at the academy for practical and theory sessions, with additional guided home study and online learning to complete your total qualification time.

ENtry Requirements

Learners must hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification (or equivalent) that includes Anatomy and Physiology, or a Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies.
Minimum age: 18 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

This official VTCT qualification requires 237 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) of direct instruction and supervision, plus 95 hours of home and self-study, giving a total of 332 hours (TQT). Some centres may advertise a shorter “fast-track” course, but delivering the full qualification in only a few days does not meet VTCT’s regulated learning requirements. This ensures you achieve a genuine, Ofqual-recognised certification that’s accepted by employers and insurers.

This course qualifies you to work as an Advanced Skin Practitioner, Aesthetic Therapist, or Skin Rejuvenation Specialist. Graduates can work in aesthetic clinics, medi-spas, skin clinics or as independent practitioners offering advanced skin treatments such as microneedling and superficial chemical peels. You can also progress to VTCT Level 5 qualifications in non-surgical aesthetic procedures.

Training is delivered through a mix of in-person practical sessions, virtual classroom learnin, and guided self-study. Assessments include external exams, practical observations, assignments and a treatment portfolio verified by VTCT’s external quality assurance process.
